What is luck?
According to the Oxford dictionary, luck is the success or failure apparently brought by chance rather than through one’s own actions. From the definition itself, it appears that a person has no control or responsibility for his or her own luck. However, the study of BaZi says otherwise. In fact, being lucky in BaZi simply means: “preparation meeting opportunity”. To be prepared, a person must first be aware. Awareness of one’s self is the starting point of everything.
What is BaZi?
The Four Pillars of Destiny, also known as “BaZi“, which means “eight characters” in Chinese, is a Chinese astrological concept that attempts to map a person’s life journey and understand his or her potential. In BaZi, it is believed that a person is created complete at the time of birth. That a person was born with many talents and resources. Unfortunately, nobody is born with a manual that lists our potential or capabilities. It is up to us to discover them. However, some people spend most of their life trying to discover themselves through trial and error and often they miss out on opportunities because they were either not prepared, too scared, or worse, not aware of what they’re capable of. This means that being lucky in BaZi requires some effort from our end.
BaZi Natal Chart and Potential
The BaZi natal chart is derived from a person’s birthday and time of birth. Each person has a BaZi natal chart and it offers a “hint” of that person’s true potential. I used the word “hint” because each person can have varying intensities and variations of the same potential. Each person is unique, so it’s fair to say that their potential is also unique. The goal of BaZi is awareness. Once you’re aware of your potential then you can make an effort to discover more of it. The earlier you discover your potential the more time you have to enhance and develop it.
Since we live in a world where the super power concept is widely popularized, you can think of your BaZi natal chart as a repository of your own unique and personal super powers. In BaZi, each person is given different energies or powers at the time of their birth. It will be a shame if we don’t know or we’re not aware of our own unique powers. Further, it will be a waste if we don’t get to use those powers in our lifetime.
